After nearly 10 years of searching and visiting approximately 85 buildings, la Chapelle has acquired a former Catholic church building to plant a new church in September 2025.

Built in 1955, the property is located in the north-end of Montreal in a neighbourhood called Cartierville and includes a church, a presbytery, an annexe connecting the two buildings, and a large green space.

Bought at the cost of 3.1 million dollars in June 2023, with a down payment of 1 million dollars, the building requires major renovations, mainly to upgrade the great hall that will be used for our Sunday meetings and holding events during the week. We will also create offices for J’aime ma ville, the charity organization that we partner with, classes for our kids’ and teens’ ministries, and bedrooms to welcome interns.

Beyond a building, this place gives us a solid, permanent home, allowing us to offer a second life to an unused church, and to send a strong message in Montreal that the Church is still alive.

In addition, we believe that this project will be a catalyst, enabling us to reach unprecedented spiritual depth that will transform our city, spread throughout the province of Quebec, and the rest of the French-speaking world.

We believe that the time has come for la Chapelle Gatineau to step into a next phase of growth. To do so, the church needs a permanent space available to them 24/7. Part of the total amount of the fundraiser ($250,000) has been allocated for the improvement of a rented space. This space will be used for all of la Chapelle Gatineau’s activities whether on Sundays or during the week.

We are actively searching for a space to rent which could be modified to create offices for the Gatineau team, which does not currently have offices, and a hall for at least 300 people.

This space will not only enable us to reduce the effort involved in being a folding church, but also create greater synergy within the various teams at la Chapelle Gatineau, who would have space to meet, work and pray together, and also to organize various events for the church community.

Since its very beginnings, la Chapelle has dreamed of being a compassionate church, involved in its community, fighting poverty and actively participating in the social development of its city.

While God answers our prayers by enabling us to begin our major projects, we firmly believe that He also calls us to share the blessings with those around us.

That's why we've included a donation of $250,000, representing 10% of the funds we need to raise internally to finance our projects, which will be given to J'aime ma ville to help with its day-to-day activities.

In addition, as a partner of J'aime ma ville, la Chapelle is committed to helping the non-profit organization reduce its rental costs for its offices and activities.

The first floor of the presbytery, which now belongs to la Chapelle, will be renovated and transformed to accommodate J'aime ma ville's offices at a lower rental cost.

In addition to occupying premises better suited to its activities, this will also enable J'aime ma ville to be closer to the needs of the community, as it will have a foothold in a neighborhood with a large population of newly-arrived immigrants and low-income families.

Having a diverse team of inspiring, competent, dedicated leaders with a vibrant faith; one that makes disciples and other leaders is at the heart of la Chapelle’s vision. Indeed, to be a church that plants others, we need not only material resources, but also human resources.

That's why we'll soon be working on an internship program of varying lengths that will enable future leaders to learn how to do and build the church with us. This program will be aimed at local people as well people from abroad who would like to become implementers in different spheres of church activities, whether pastoral, operational or artistic.

The second floor of the presbytery, which already includes several bedrooms and bathrooms, will be renovated for trainees who are either single or married and in need of a place to stay during their internship with us.

In addition, we’ll be actively working on developing leaders that are already at la Chapelle, enabling everyone to become the best version of themselves, and to grow as leaders of today and of tomorrow.

We dream of a church where there's a place for everyone. Where our children walk in God's ways, where teenagers make the decision to follow Jesus even if it means going against mainstream society, where young adults enter into their call to be leaders of today, where people of all ages get involved and share their experiences for the development of all.

To achieve this, we will continue the development of our ministry for young adults. We will work on strategies to ensure a smoother transition between our various ministries, including combining la Chapelle Junior (kids’ group) and Treize10huit (teenagers’ group) under the same leadership.
